The Mirror You Don’t Want to Face
There’s a truth most people never stop to consider: Maybe the reason your life, work, or relationships aren’t flourishing isn’t because the world is unfair, or others don’t “get you.”
Maybe it's the direct result of the effort you’ve been putting in. An output directly equal to the input. A blessing fitting of the sacrifice given.
That’s not an insult. It’s a wake-up call.
You cannot expect a harvest if you haven’t sown with care. You cannot expect loyalty if you’ve only given half your heart. You cannot expect fruit when you’ve been rationing your effort, waiting for the field to prove it’s worth tending.
Asking the Hard Question
Ask yourself: Would I be happy to receive what I’ve been giving?
The effort, the attention, the consistency, the quality—if you were your boss would you pay for your own work? If you were your partner would you feel nourished by your own love? If you were someone else watching from the outside, would you trust your own discipline? Would you believe your own words if you heard the conviction–or lack thereof–when spoken from your mouth?
This isn’t condemnation. It’s alignment. The Compass won’t let you escape this question, because it knows the truth: you reap what you sow.
The Compass Demands Excellence
The Compass doesn’t ask you to be perfect. But it does demand your best.
Half-hearted efforts collapse under pressure. Shallow roots dry up in the sun. A surface-level sacrifice doesn’t make us a Steward worthy of His blessing.
Life isn’t waiting for you to get lucky. It’s waiting for you to become the kind of person whose offerings carry weight.
Offerings forged in sincerity, consistency, and alignment.
In the story of Cain and Abel, Cain feels that God is showing favoritism towards Abel. But the story of Cain and Abel isn’t about favoritism. It’s about Sincerity and Stewardship.
One gave the first and best; the other gave what was safe. One offering carried a weight worth the blessing, the other did not. And the lesson is the same today.
Raising the Standard
So maybe the real shift isn’t in asking for more from life.
Maybe it’s in offering more TO life.
Bring your full presence to your work. Bring full Sincerity to your relationships. Bring your utmost discipline to the Altar of your Becoming.
When your offerings are worthy, life responds in kind.
“If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is contrary to you, but you must rule over it.” - Genesis 4:7
