The Weight of What’s Already in Your Hands

But the path won’t give us more until we’ve proven we can honor what we already have.

That’s The Stewardship Test. And it’s the quiet filter between where you are and where you want to be.

Why This Test Comes First

The Stewardship Test isn’t about skill or perfect conditions. 

It’s about whether you can be trusted to carry the weight you’re asking for.

It doesn’t wait for your “someday” dream to show up. It’s happening right now, in the soil you stand on. In the grasp of what you already have.

The Parable of the Field

You’ve probably heard a story like this before.

A man is entrusted with a modest plot of land. Soil and stone, a few weeds, a couple of trees.

He’s told, “This is yours to care for. You cannot control the weather, but what you do with the land is up to you.”

So he waits.

He tells himself he’ll tend it when the soil is better, when he has more tools, when the timing is right.

Sometimes he tries, but only just enough to “see if it works first.” He wants proof that there will be promise before giving it his full effort.

Years pass. Seasons turn. The land stays the same—potential buried under neglect.

Meanwhile, his neighbors plant clumsily. Sometimes too late, often with bare hands. But they keep planting.

And their harvest comes. 

Not because they had perfect soil, but because they honored what they were given.

Frustrated, he looks around at those around him and wonders why they’re luscious fields are bearing fruit and his is a barren wasteland.

He didn't realize it, but he was being tested.

Not for skill. Not for strategy. But for his Stewardship.

Passing the Test

This test cannot be skipped. Your Compass will not lead you around it. It will lead you right through it.

We face The Stewardship test every day.

We face it in how we treat our time. In whether we care for our body. In whether we honor our commitments, even the ones we make to ourselves.

You can’t wait for the perfect season to plant and expect it to magically come. Time will pass, seasons will come and go, regardless of the conditions you’re given. 

You must tend what you’ve been given to the best of your ability so that it one day may flourish.

The way you treat the soil you’ve been given today determines if you’re worthy to be entrusted with more tomorrow.
